pop wind

so, I just heard a song from this band who is really on their way up.  They are called Pop Winds, from Montreal, on Arbutus Records.

They sound a bit like other acts on the label – Blue Hawaii or Grimes.  They are a bit more upbeat, though, and you can hear their fondness for animal collective, too. (guitar playing era AC)(although Pop Winds vocals are way more clear)

anyways, they came up in my soundcloud dashboard yesterday, but today they got posted on facebook by my friend from Concordia, Matt, who it turns out produced the song (!), and I found out one of the guys in Pop Wind is this dude Kyle, who I also went to school with!!! I’m so proud of both those dudes!

Its pretty awesome to hear this, because of those things.  I remember Kyle got this guy Anthony to help mix a couple songs in 2008, and Anthony said it was pretty weird/far out stuff, and I knew Kyle’s band would turn out to be super rad.  It’s great to see they are doing really well. Arbutus Recs have a pretty solid catalogue.  Matt, well, his work was always super great.  I’m not surprised at all to hear how good this song sounds.  His ear for detail is pretty keen.

Anyways, here’s the track, with a free download

…And here is a link from their myspace.  At this page you can download 1.5 free albums by them!  What a great bunch of bro’s!!! I hope when I get back to Montreal, these guys will all be bro’s with me…

About jefrab

hahaha. I'm just a funny guy who sits at home on my computer a lot, and dj's a bit, and makes music sometimes, and tries to teach himself how to use complicated software of all types. I'm a hippy from an island of 800, who grew up without a radio or flush toilet, but who has somehow managed to make his way around the world, and learn the difference between chinos and khakis...
