so, I have been buggin on the EP “hello lonely, hold the nation” by Downliners Sekt
It’s a bit older for me to be going on about, maybe, since they have a new record (“we make hits not the public”) and it was featured with an interview on fact magazine.
But it is so cool. It’s like if that amazing Apparat song off Modeselektions became a band, and made a full ep. The amazing thing about Downliners Sekt, though, is that they each record from them is totally unique. It’s like they have invented a completely unique filter, and they run it over whatever comes into their scopes for each record, making a distinct sound without over genrefying themselves.
The earliest stuff is way ahead of its time, with 2002 records sounding like 2009 trends, then they switched it up to something halfway between post-rock and power ambient, full of guitars and static, but too electronic to be bands music.
then hello lonely – this album I been listening to – which is like downbeat glitch, with the most hypnotic rhythmic structures and far out burialstep vocals. It’s very slick.
Their newest one is a bit more stepper, but equally as complex, and I’m sure I’m gonna end up listening to it a lot over the next while.
anyways, the best thing about them is that I downloaded all their albums from the website, where EVERYTHING IS FREE!!!!! SO AWESOME!!!!!!
Anyways, here is a video of one of the tracks from hello lonely. I am putting into a dj mix with apparat, eleven tigers, and burial.
